Yvonne Gouge McKinney, 81. Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Lakebridge A Waters Community. She was born July 17, 1944, in Bakersville, North Carolina to the late Howard and Daisy McKinney Gouge. She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Spoken Word Fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Doug McKinney, a son: David McKinney, Grandsons: Aaron McKinney, Eligah McKinney. And her sisters: Infant Carolyn Gouge, Mable Cook and husband Dallas, Helen Garland and husband Clyde, Mima Jean Taylor and husband Herb, Wanda Davis and Norma Davis, WH & Grace Gouge.
Survivors include her son: Bryan and wife Tammy McKinney. Her Grandchildren: Mathew McKinney, Josh McKinney, Hannah and Isaac Johnson, and Great Grandchildren: Gage McKinney, Emma McKinney (Her little angel), Matthis McKinney and Oliver Johnson. Her Sisters: Catherine and Harold Green, Jewel and Sammy Hubbard, and Marcella Peterson. Her special lifelong friend: Mable Calhoun.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Yvonne will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Wilson and Mr. Isaac Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Bryan McKinney, Mike Hubbard, Isaac Johnson, Mathew McKinney and Josh McKinney. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. A special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, and Lakebridge Skilled Nursing family and a special thank you to all her caregivers that cared for her when she needed it the most.
