Wayne Allen Sneed, 88, Elizabethton passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, after a long battle with COPD.

A native of Limestone Cove community in Unicoi County, he was the son of the late John and Edith Campbell Sneed. At 18 years old, Wayne moved to Cleveland, Ohio. He retired from General Motors in 1988 after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of United Auto Workers Union. After retirement, he returned to Tennessee where he worked at White's Fresh Foods and Ingles until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Wayne was known for his love of red Chevy Trucks, Waylon Jennings, and Dale Earnhardt.

Wayne attended Fairview Free Will Baptist Church and loved his church family very much. He considered preacher Gary Whitehead a dear friend.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings: Steven Sneed, Perry Sneed, Johnny Sneed, Fay Black, Sharon Hilton, Fern Gentry and Phyllis Whittemore: also, a granddaughter: Amelia Hamby.

Survivors include his wife: Susie Berry Sneed: His Children: Glenn (Sharon) Sneed, Tammy Newsom, Joey Sneed, Jimmy (Tina) Sneed, Jeff Johnson, Jennifer Bennett and Karen Hamby. His Grandchildren: Tony Sneed, Matthew Sneed, Erica Daniels, Marla Sterkel, Shannon Hanrahan, Samantha Sneed, Myranda Romero, Madison Collins, Savannah Hamby, Elijah Hamby and Emery Hamby. His Great Grandchildren: Brooke Sneed, Madison Sneed, Lucas Newsom, Emmett Stringer, Addison Misconish, Nicholas Collins and Christopher Romero: Sister: Dorothy (Charlie) Casey and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Whitehead officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in the Grindstaff Cemetery, Limestone Cove. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys for their care during this time.
