Obituary

Virginia Christeen Swain, 86, Elizabethton went to be with Jesus August 19th 2023 from an extended illness.

She was born in Carter County to the late Frank May, Sr. and Hester Jane Peters May and was a long term resident of Ivy Hall Nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Swain who passed in October of 2019 and three sisters: Mary Oliver, Betty Jo Arnold and Charlotte Smith. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children; Jim May (Claudia) of Elizabethton Tennessee; Becky Dawes (Jerrid) of New Ellenton South Carolina and Joanna Holt (Carlos) of San Antonio Texas.

She has five grandchildren: Penny Campbell, Whitney Davis, Amanda Reed (Matthew), Kennedy & Hayden Holt.

Two Great-Grandchildren; Lainee and Jude Bartlett. Two Sisters: Helen Ruth Pilk, and Bonnie Carr both of Elizabethton. Two Brothers: James Alvin May and Frank May, Jr. both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews.

Virginia or Christeen as most of her family and friends know her worked at daycares later in her life. She loved caring for the "littles". Before her and her husband became homebound, they loved to take road trips and visit family. She always cared about others more than herself.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Virginia Christeen Swain will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Matt Swain officiating. Music will be provided by Chris & Tonia Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

A special thanks to the staff of CNA's, Nurses and Administration of Ivy Hall Nursing home for their dedicated care and how they made our moma feel special.
