Virginia Mae (Davis) Taylor, 89, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord

Monday, May 20, 2024 at Lifecare of Elizabethton following a lengthy illness. She was born August 23, 1934 in Carter County to the late Robert E. & Virgie L. Davis. She was a member of Moore's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church even though she had not attended due to sickness, she still loved her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Jay Taylor, two sons: Robert & James Wiley, a daughter: Kathy Douglas, her brother: Herfel Davis and her sister: Larna Taylor.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Norman & Cheryl Wiley, Oldsmar, Florida, sisters & brothers-in-law: Lois & Johnnie Trivett, Kingston, Tenn.,and Sue & Arthur Carden, Elizabethton & a brother-in-law: Granville Taylor, Elizabethton. Her Grandchildren: Tommy & Bryan Wiley, Mississippi, Jeffery & Michael Wiley, Florida, Jennifer Wiley, Florida, Greg Douglas, Mississippi, 12 Great Grandchildren. Also several nieces & nephews. She also was loved by two special friends who constantly checked on her: Richard Donnelly & Anna Ruth Pierce.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Virginia will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Blevins and her Nephew Michael Taylor, officiating; Music will be provided by Robin Presnell. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Davis Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday will be Michael Taylor, Kelvin Cannon, Arthur Carden, Johnnie Trivett, Charlie Campbell and Roy Willis. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Class of 1953, Unaka High School. Many thanks to Amy Willis for the care for her when she was in the hospital & Lori Burelson, her sitter for the last 8 months at the nursing home. Also for the great compassionate care from Gentiva during her final days. To the many great CNA's that care for her , we truly thank you for your compassionate care, also to a long time friend of hers: Charlie Campbell. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
