It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tommy Charles Garland ("Doug"), age 52, who departed this life peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

Doug was born on February 1, 1973, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to Kenneth Garland and Shirley Davis. A mechanic by trade and by heart, Doug worked with his hands his entire life and could fix or build just about anything. From repairing cars and building houses to roofing churches, constructing pools, and doing electrical work, there was very little he couldn't do. He took pride in his skills and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Doug enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, playing pool, and most of all spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Known for his generous spirit and quick wit, Doug never failed to make those around him laugh. He was a man of many talents and even more heart—a true character who was always there when someone needed him.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Aliah Garland; Brother, Tony Garland; special brother-in-law Tommy Taylor Jr.; Grandparents, Charles and Beatrice Davis; Claude and Edith Garland; Mother-in-Law Bonnie Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Garland of 35 years; Son, Aaron Garland; Four daughters, Brittany Garland and Boyfriend Jiamond Boose, Shay Collie and Husband Sam Collie, Haley Garland, Katelyn Garland; Three Grandsons (papaw's boys) Braylon Garland, Aayden Garland, Jiamond Boose Jr.; Brother, Timmy Garland and girlfriend Dawn Davis; Father, Kenneth Garland; Mother, Shirley Davis Estep; Father-in-law and Close Friend Tommy Taylor; Several nieces including a Very Special niece Reona Garland and family, nephews, Aunts & uncles, cousins.

A private funeral service will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Doug's kindness, generosity, and deep love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He believed in building not only structures, but also relationships and memories that will stand the test of time.
