Timothy Jay Birchfield, 67, Hampton, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born in Carter County to the late Gurney and Rosie Lee McKinney Birchfield. He was formerly employed in the maintenance Department at Grandfather Mountain. He loved to go fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include the love of his life: Karen Hollifield. One Sister: Daisy Thompson, Several nieces and nephews including a special niece Peggy Cable and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the Birchfield Cemetery, Sugar Hollow, Roan Mountain with Pastor Randy English and Pastor Tyler Street officiating. Burial will follow the service. Music will be by Roy Arnett. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
