Obituary

Steven Earl Heaton, 57, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born February 28, 1968 in Washington, D.C. to the late Command Sgt. Major Samuel Heaton, Jr. and Novella Collins Heaton. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and East Tennessee State University with a degree in English. He was a Journalist who loved writing short stories and novels. Steven loved his Pomeranian Dogs. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his sisters: Sandra (Curtis) Huskins and Patricia (Michael) Kuykendoll. One Nephew: Brent (Amy) Huskins, Three Nieces: Lacey (Dustin) Wolfe, Hollie (Ryan) Guinn and Chelsie (Eric) Harvey. Three Great Nieces: Hayley Huskins, Lily Huskins and Isla Harvey. One Great Nephew: Canaan Wolfe. One Aunt: Betty (Andy) Edwards, One Uncle: Bob Collins and several cousins. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made in memory of Steven to the Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. It was his wish to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Organ donations made through Tennessee Donor Services.
