Stephen Roger “Pops” Ray, 79, Jonesborough went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born in Unicoi County on March 11, 1947. He worked many years in the wood working industries. Pops was well known along side his son. Robert “Robbie” Ray for amateur Nascar Racing, he loved car shows, model train shows and building his own race cars. Known for his kind heart, he was a type of man who always had something positive to say about everyone. He was loved for his warm personality, and friendship he built throughout his life. He would say my biggest accomplishment is accepting Jesus and letting him live in his heart. He attended Church until becoming ill. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Doris Ray, a brother: Howard Ray and a Sister: Lois Anderson.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Baker Ray. His Children: Robert (Robbie) Ray, Kenneth Williams, David Williams, Bobby Williams, Janice Woodby and Sandra Turner. His Grandchildren: Alexica Coffey, Kaylee Ray, Makinzee Ray, Mikalea Taylor, Kenli Williams, Brent Turner, Dezmond Turner, Erika Turner, Savannah Woodby. Several Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Cochran-Carver Cemetery, Simerly Creek Road. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
