Stanley
Largent
Jan 4, 1948 — Feb 28, 2026
Stanley Largent, age 78, of Roan Mountain passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on February 28th, 2026, after a brief illness.
Stanley was born on January 4, 1948, at home to the late Harless and Rosie Largent. In addition to his parents, Stanley was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 47 years, Maggie "Sharon" Largent; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Glover; his granddaughter, Gracie Largent; and his brother Willard Largent.
Stanley enjoyed his life with hard work and farming. He enjoyed working with horses, building wagons, and plowing his gardens. Being an avid raccoon hunter, he had walked almost every mountain in Carter County. He was the proud owner and operator of Black Snake Lumber, which he built from scratch 41 years ago. It was not just a job for Stanley but a passion where many memories and friends were made. His customers, which became lifelong friends, valued his knowledge and integrity. Stanley was a devoted husband, caring father, mentor, and friend to many. However, his greatest joy was his grandchildren, who will forever cherish the love and memories of their "pap."
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sons, Heath (Donna) Largent of Denton, Texas, Greg (Lisa) Largent of Roan Mountain and Daniel Largent of Hampton; stepdaughter, Tina (Duane) Edge, of Lithia Florida; his grandchildren, Chelsi Largent, Amanda "Mandi" Buchanan (Hunter), and Hunter Largent; two step grandsons, Travis (Jessica) Edge, and Shawn (Natalie) Edge; several great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces; he also leaves behind three brothers, Carl Bennett, Dillard Largent, and Freddy (Diane) Largent; and four sisters: Juanita (Doug) Miller, Maxine (Scott Richie, Lucille (Dennis) Rhinehart and Susan (Dave) Morgan.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Stanley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy English officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026 in the Stanley Largent Cemetery.
