Obituary

Shirley Christine Peters Jeffers, 90, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, October 12, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Wade and Annie Bailey Peters. Her most import thing in her life was her Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She was very active in her church. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU . She loved visiting the sick at home or in the nursing homes. She was a former member of West Side Christian Church and East Side Christian Church, where she had served as pianist and choir director. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Cecil Jeffers, Three Sisters: Clara Kelly, Arline Houchins, and Virginia Holly and six brothers: Robert Peters, Hampton Peters, Wade Peters, Jr., Evant Peters, Bobby Peters and Franklin Peters.

Survivors include Two Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Larry (Cathy) Jeffers and Jeff (Tonya) Jeffers, Two Daughters & Sons-in-law: Sherry (Butch) Carmichel and Debbie (Tommy) Stout. Four Grandchildren: Christy Fair, Shaun Stout, Travis Jeffers and Weston Jeffers. Seven Great Grandchildren: Haley Fair, Jacey Fair, Maylie Stout, Gage Stout, Sullivan Jeffers, Georgia Jeffers, Charlie Jeffers and one on the way. Two Sisters: Mary Ann Dix, Roanoke, Va and Loretta Julian, Elizabethton. Several Nieces and Nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Shirley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025 in First Baptist Church of Elizabethton with Pastor Todd Hallman and Pastor Randall Johnson officiating. Private Graveside Services will be conducted from the Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Greene County. Pallbearers will be selected from family. A special thank you to Greg Depew who was her security guard and loving neighbor and also thank you to all our family and friends who have helped us through this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
