Shirley D. Edwards, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 at the residence of her daughter, Pam. She was born November 5, 1948 in New Richmond, Virginia to the late Estil & Emma Bishop Laxton. She had lived in Carter County for several years. She was retired from Levi Strauss. She loved Gardening and cooking.

Survivors include Two Daughters: Pam (Terry) Oakes and Patti Shoun.Her Grandchildren: Casey (Skyler) Cobbler, Hunter Oakes, Riley Lambert, Jerrica Oakes, Peyton Oakes and Dominic Tellez. One Great Grandchild: Cass Cobbler. Three Step- Grand Children: Greg Oakes, Amber Lambert and Kelly Oakes. Three Sisters: Linda Arnold, Barbara (David) Dula and Margaret (Tim) Tipton. One Brother: Steve Stout.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026 in Butler Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Gary Whitehead officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Gregory Oakes, Hunter Oakes, Skyler Cobbler and Steve Vanhoy. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
