Shirley Ann Estep Campbell, our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Best Friend passed from this world to see the wonders of heaven on February 26, 2024 at Sycamore Springs Memory Care, Elizabethton. Throughout her life, she provided encouragement to our family to always trust in the Lord. She will be dearly missed and will always be remembered for her love for her family, friends and church. She was a 1952 graduate of Unaka High School and a member of Holly Springs Freewill Baptist Church. She retired from Tri State Container.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Wayne Campbell on February 26, 2015, her parents Dewey and Bertie Richardson Estep, bonus parents, Houston and Stella Holder, sisters Mamie Estep and Corine Shoun, brothers Charles and Paul Estep, as well as other family members, close friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Those left to mourn her absence are her daughters, Teresa (Alan) Combs and Debbie (Joe) Eggers, her granddaughter Emily (Alex) Hendrix and great granddaughters Ava Grace, Amelia Faith and Adelyn Hope Hendrix. The love she had for all her girls was beyond measure.

Mom had faithful friends that were always there for her during her struggle with dementia. Darlene Clark and the Clark family, Dorothy and Pat Hopson, Kathleen White, and Ann Dula. Holly and Mattie Church were such a blessing to her, and our family, during mom's sickness. Special thanks to Debbie, her neighbor, and to Karen Taylor (who was like a daughter to her).

Sincere thanks to all the staff and management at Sycamore Springs Memory Care. We appreciate each and everyone who had a part in taking care of our mother. There are so many that helped and supported us during her stay. We can't say enough good things about all the caretakers who cared for her, and showered the family with so much love and compassion. The family appreciates Chaplain Estil Williams for his spiritual support and prayers with mom. We are also very thankful for the Amedysis organization who provided comfort care. Please remember the precious residents of the Memory Care Unit, and their families in your prayers. We love you all.

There will be no formal services. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 in the Richardson Cemetery in Stoney Creek. We request that in lieu of flowers, you make a memory offering to Holly Springs Freewill Baptist Church and/or the Memory Care Activity Fund at Sycamore Springs, ℅ Rhonda Malone, Executive Director.
