Shelby Jean Fletcher Medearis, age 87 went home to our Lord and Savior on Sunday March 16th, 2025.

Born to John Clarence & Bertha Mae Berry Fletcher on 12/22/1937 in Butler, TN.

Being a Christmas baby mom always said, "Momma's a good girl, Santa Clause came early that year and sent a ball bouncing down the hall to make the announcement".

Proceeding Shelby in death was her husband of 40 years Ben Medearis, her parents, sisters, Ruth and Phyllis, brother Clint and niece Carolyn.

Surviving Shelby are her son and daughter in law, Ben and Kimberly Medearis of Ashville, NC and stepdaughter and granddaughter Robin Lynn Medearis Shell and Christy Shell as well as multiple nieces and nephews that she truly cherished.

Mom held several careers throughout her life which included secretary, business owner, worked at ETSU Book Store and greatest of all being a devoted wife and mother.

Her greatest joy in life while able, was working in her garden and growing fresh vegetables for all to share and eating as many fresh Scott's strawberries as she could during the season.

Her greatest love other than her family was her church family at Oak Street Baptist in Elizabethton, TN where she was a member for over 40 years, especially her Sunday School class which meant so much to her.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Shelby will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Greenoe, Pastor Gary Edwards and Mr. Jerry Slemp officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Paul White, Clyde Keisler, Doug Vandeventer, Alex Savage, Doug White and Gary White. Honorary Pallbearers will be her church family. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home prior to the service.
