Shelby Jean Heaton, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Life Care Center of Elizabethton. She was born April 3, 1943 in Carter County to the late Eugene H. & Vergie Lovelace Bowers. She was a 1961 graduate of Hampton High School. She worked in the Deli Department of Winn-Dixie for several years. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Floyd Heaton.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law: Floyd & Sheree Heaton. Her Grandchildren: Sean Heaton, Emily Heaton, Evan Windham andErin Windham. One Brother & wife: Eugene & Ruby Bowers. Her special friend: Larry Clark.

It was her wish to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
