Obituary

Sharon Pierce Shell, 87, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born December 30, 1937 in Roda, Virginia to the late Charles & Barbara Baker Pierce. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a graduate of Unaka High School. Sharon had been employed at Citizens Bank for 40 plus years. She was a member of Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, loved to help prepare meals and loved to help people. She also loved to go shopping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norris Shell who passed away August 16, 2016, two sisters: June Shelton and Vivian Smith and three brothers: Bill, James and Wayne Pierce.

Survivors include Two Children: Brandon (Kristy) Shell and Lisa (Mike) McGovern.Four Grandchildren: Maci Shell, Kolby Shell, Kyler McGovern, and Nathan McGovern, Her Sister-in-Law: Faye Pierce. Several Nieces & Nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Sharon will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Buddy Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Music will be provided by the Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Choir. Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 in the Blevins Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Brandon Shell, Mike McGovern, Kolby Shell, Kyler McGovern, Nathan McGovern and Chuck Pierce. Honorary Pallbearers will be her church family, nephews and great nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the ER and 2nd Floor Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent care she received. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Sharon to the Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 101 Jim Deal Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
