Scotty Leon Hayes, 73, Elizabethton, loving husband, father, PaPaw and Pop Pop went to be with his Lord Friday, July 31, 2026, at his residence. He was born October 14, 1952, in Elizabethton to the late John and Hannah Morton Hayes. He was a 1970 graduate of Happy Valley High School. He was in Contractor Sales. He was formerly employed at Paty Lumber Co., Lowes and Contractor Yard. Scotty was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He loved old cars and was a member of the Carter County Car Club.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years: Angela Guinn Hayes. Four Children: Scott (Anna) Hayes, Telford, Morgan (Daniel) Bowers, Hannah Hayes (Jacob) White and Alyssa White all of Elizabethton. Three Grandchildren: Sean Hayes, Logan Hayes, Blakely Bowers and one on the way. One Sister; Patsy (Gary) Johnson. One Nephew: Wesley (Alison) Johnson. His Mother-in-Law: Betty Stout. His Aunt: Mayme Smith.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Scotty will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton, with his son Rev. Scott Hayes and Rev. Nathan Jennings officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp and Valerie Swartz. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Monday and at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday will be: Gary Johnson, Wesley Johnson, Sean Hayes, Logan Hayes, Jacob White, Daniel Bowers, Gary Moore and Doug Slagle. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Guinn, Mike Davis and his church family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com. The family request that anyone going to the cemetery if they have a classic car to drive it.
