Scott Alan Benfield, 63, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born February 20, 1962, in Augusta, Georgia. He had lived most of his life in Tennessee. He was a Construction Worker. His hobbies were fishing and loved to ride around in the area. His mother: Shirley Jean Johnson Benfield preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years Debbie Holtsclaw Benfield. One Daughter: Amanda Oxendine. His Father: Paul Benfield. One Brother: Bruce Benfield, One Sister: Karen Baker & her husband George, His Step-Mother: Hazel Benfield, Two Step-Brothers: Adam and Mark Honeycutt. Three Special Nieces: Cheyanne Richardson, April Turner and Amber Baker, Two Nephews: Paul Baker and Joseph Lynn Holtsclaw. His Sister-In-Law: Rachel Wise. His four legged best friend "Runt"
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scotty Whitson. The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Music will be provided by Pat Teague. Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Holtsclaw Cemetery (Simerly Creek). Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Friday will be: George Baker, Joe Holtsclaw, Johnny Russell, Michael Richardson, Benji Turner and Adam Wenger. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Scotty Whitson. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
