Sandy Johnson Obituary

Sandy Johnson, 85, of Elizabethton, went Home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 25, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John and Mae Crowe of Elizabethton, and a graduate of the Class of 1958 at Elizabethton High School. She worked at Sperry/Unisys before beginning a career with several mobile phone retailers and later retiring from the Walmart of Elizabethton, where her kind and welcoming nature allowed her to form many lasting friendships. She loved tending to her home and working in her yard.

A woman of profound and enduring faith, Sandy was a deeply devoted member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, where she joyfully served and worshipped for many years. She grew in her faith alongside friends in the Sanctuary Class and poured her love into others through her faithful service with the Cooking Group Ministry. Sandy cherished her Bible, studying it daily. She lived her faith quietly but powerfully as a "behind the scenes" prayer warrior, serving as a constant source of strength and encouragement to everyone she met.

Sandy’s greatest success, first priority, and true joy in life—second only to her faith—was her family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her two sons, Randy and Rick Johnson, of whom she was immensely proud. She absolutely adored her daughter-in-law, Gina, whom she loved and considered a true daughter.

Her heart grew even larger as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She dearly loved her five grandchildren: Megan (Lance) Harsh, Natalie (Jeremy) Wright, Andy (Sydney) Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, and Keaton (Joseph) Smithdeal. Her absolute favorite hobby was spending every possible moment with her nine great-grandchildren (and one on the way), who were her absolute pride and joy: Neil Harsh, Lucas Wright, Charlie Harsh, Ava Wright, Benjamin Harsh, Seth Wright, A.J. Johnson, Isaac Wright, Nellie June Harsh, and Baby Johnson. She was deeply involved in all of their lives, filling them with love and creating countless beautiful stories and memories that they will cherish forever.

Sandy also shared an incredibly special and unbreakable bond with her sisters, whom she loved with all her heart: Carolyn Robinson, Linda (Carl) Roberson, and Marie (Jay) Kyte. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family during the traditional "Crowe" gatherings on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She was also blessed with a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and incredibly special friends.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

At Sandy’s request, a graveside service to lay her to rest beside her beloved parents will follow the visitation at Monte Vista Park in Johnson City on Saturday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m.. The service will be officiated by her son and Pastor, Randy Johnson. Special singing will be provided by her grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Keith Cook and the staff at Johnson City Internal Medicine, Dr. Carmena Garcia and the staff at SOFHA Pulmonology, and the exceptional 5200 unit staff at the Johnson City Medical Center for their compassionate care. They also sincerely thank Sandy's wonderful friends and neighbors for their acts of kindness and continuous prayers.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Sandy's memory may make a donation to the Valley Forge FWB Church “The Forge” Fund at 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, Tennessee.
