Apr 24, 1955 — Jul 3, 2023
Russell Wayne "Rusty" Curde, 68, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 at his home in Watauga, Tennessee. He was predeceased by his Father, Eldred "Ed" Curde, and his mother Betty Curde. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Curde and his five children, Jennifer, Sam (Raquel), Andy (Heather), Rachael, and Reaghan Curde, and his one grandson, Tanner Curde. He is also survived by his older sister Peggy (Darrell) Willocks, his two nieces Renee (John) Dixon and Amy Willocks, his one nephew William "Billy" Willocks, his two great-nieces Hollyn and Amia Dixon, and his one great nephew William Willocks. He also leaves behind his dear friend David "Wahoo" Davis.
As a young adult, Russell was proud to have worked with his father Ed on the Alaskan Pipeline. He received his BS in nursing from ETSU and began his career as a registered nurse, following in his mother Betty's footsteps. He felt nursing was his true calling. He joined the Army Reserves as a military nurse and was deployed during the Gulf War. He spent most of his nursing career at the VA Medical Center where he made many precious lifelong friends and had a major impact upon the lives of many patients. Russell loved sports, motorcycles, and spending time with his friends and family. He was a friend to everyone who met him and always went out of his way to help those in need.
A Celebration of Russell's life will be held on Tuesday, July 11th at 5pm at His Presence Church, located at 2319 Browns Mill Rd. (B) in Johnson City, Tennessee. We welcome friends and family to come celebrate with us. Committal of his remains will be conducted at the VA Mountain Home Cemetery at a date to be determined.
