Roman Dale Holtsclaw, 79, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Voyd & Mary Hyder Holtsclaw. He was a 1961 graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the Tennessee National Guard. Roman was self employed in the Construction Industries. He loved hunting, fishing and playing pool. In addition to is parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife: Sheila "Diane" Holtsclaw, five brothers: Maynard, Vernon, Allen, Burgess and Gary Holtsclaw. Roman was a member of Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Ethel Jane Holtsclaw. Three Children; Michael Holtsclaw, Tina (Alan) Smith and Casey (Justin) Hensley. A Step-Daughter: Karen (John) Roberts, A Step-Son: Ernie Davidson. Fourteen Grandchildren: Hayden Holtsclaw,  Marshal Holtsclaw, Eden Hensley,  Abel Hensley, Josh, Jessica & Tabitha Holtsclaw, Sierra McManus, Brooklynn Finley, Michael Smith, Karina Nelson, Jerrad Pfeiffer, MarLynn Pfeiffer and Lakota Roberts. Several great grandchildren. One Sister: Mona Lee Phillips. Also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday August 31, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brett Jones officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Voyd Holtsclaw Cemetery, Hampton. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday will be: Hayden Holtsclaw, Danny Adams, Carlos McNabb, Mike Long, Mike Depriest and Justin Hensley. Honorary Pallbearers will be his many friends. The family would like to express a special thank you for the many prayers and hospitatily shown to the family during his illness. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home prior to the service.
