R.M. Guinn, 84, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born January 19, 1939 in Abingdon, Virginia to the late Cleveland & Easter Guy Guinn. He was preceded in death by his wife: Doris "Mickey" Guinn and daughter Regina Lee Cole, several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by daughter: Tammy (Eric) Gibson, Sons: Timothy (Patti) Honeycutt, Wayne (Regina) Honeycutt and Mark Honeycutt and Randall (KeeWee) Guinn. He was blessed with six granddaughters: Joanna Gibson, Erika Collins, Katie Honeycutt, Allie Malone and Stephanie Williams whom he helped raise & was like his own. Nine Grandsons: Joshua Gibson, Timmy & Cody Honeycutt, Kaleb Honeycutt, Tanner & Jeffery Honeycutt, Nic Guinn, Ashton & Asher Guinn. Four Great Granddaughters: Peyton Peoples, Emma Moore, Hadley Bravender,and Harper Grimes. Two Great Grandsons: Oliver Yeager & Kenneth Malone.
He served in the US Army and was of the Baptist Faith. His life revolved around farming and gardening to which he did until age 83. He enjoyed being with family and telling stories of his life. He leaves behind his best friend and closest companion his dog "Sparky". Also a special friend who has been a huge help over the years, Rick Hill.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Anglin officiating. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 in the Mausoleum of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Stephanie Williams and Barbara Curtis, pianist. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Friends. The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at the James H. Quillen Va Medical Center for their kindness and compassion during the excellent care he received. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington County-Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, Tenn. 37601. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
