Richard Haden Bunde, 49, Roan Mountain was born on April 6, 1976 in Winter Garden, Florida went to Heaven on Monday, February 2, 2026 in the Johnson City Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter. He was preceded in death by his father, James Bunde, his step-father, Richard "Dick" Callaghan and his sister Becky Whitaker. Richard was a faithful member of Cove Creek Community Church, where he dearly loved his church family. He was known for his love of telling jokes and his joyful spirit, always finding a way to bring smiles and laughter to those around him. He was previously employed by the Permatile Concrete of Bristol.

He is survived by his loving wife: Kristi Bunde; his very special little boy, Austin Johnson; and his sweet daughter, Harley Cates and little dog "Coco". He is also survived by his mother, Mary Callaghan; his brother, Charles "Danny" Bunde; and his sister, Manda Callaghan and mother and father-in-law: Hester and Ben Barlow. Richard is lovingly remembered by his special niece and nephew, Serenity and Adam, along with several other nephews and a niece. He also leaves behind a special friend, Robert Clark, with whom he shared daily conversations about comics and card games, a friendship that meant a great deal to him.

A Service to celebrate the life of Richard will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Cove Creek Community Church with Pastor Lucas Hitechew officiating. Burial will follow in the Barlow Cemetery. Music will be by Kimberly H oltsclaw. Active Pallbearers will be: John Ingram, John Caraway, Levi Caraway, Terry Hughes, Caleb Ledford, Isaiah Ledford, Elijah Holtsclaw and Sherman Johnson.
