Reva Dugger Murphy, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie & Connie Campbell Dugger. Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a retired employee of Levi-Strauss. She was a life member of Southside Christian Church. She loved to cook and work in her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Murphy, two sisters: Irene Carden and Georgia Smith and a son-in-law Danny Cornett.
Survivors include two daughters: Debbie Cornett of the home and Shelia Hyder and husband Keith, Gray. A Son & Daughter-in-law; Alan Murphy and wife Angela, Charlotte, North Carolina. Three Grandchildren: Greg, Daniel and April. 10 Great Grandchildren. One Sister: Ann Roberts and husband Donald, Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Burleson, Minister officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by David & Evelyn Dugger. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be: Her Church Family. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Staff of Hermitage Health Center, the staff of ICU & Surgery of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Dr. Elizabeth DeFluiter, Dr. Justin Digby, Dr. Robert Walter and the Anesthesia Dept. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Murphy to the Southside Christian Church, 1605 Southside Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
