Ray Williams, 93, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 in the Hermitage Health Center. Ray was born March 4, 1930 in Elizabethton. He joined the United Sates Army following high school and retired SSGT from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service during the Korea and Vietnam eras. Upon leaving military service, Ray worked for the TVA, completing 14 years of service before his final retirement. Ray was an active and devoted member of the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton. Ray is fondly remembered by his family and friends for not only his great devotion to his faith but also, of his great love for playing the guitar and singing and composing some original music. Following retirement, he spent much of his free time volunteering in nursing facilities entertaining the residents with his music. Ray's charismatic, humorous, yet sincere, personality will certainly be missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Kitty Williams, a son: Kevin Williams, a brother: J C Williams and a great grandson: Derrick Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Onie Oliver Williams. Three Daughters: Geraldine Williams, Loretta Brown, and Tenessa Munal & husband Robert "Butch" Munal. One Stepson: James Fulton. Seven Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Dennis Laws. Active Pallbearers will be: Butch Munal, Sammy Williams, Jerry Oliver, Dewayne Badgett, Ray Deloach and Jeff Caldwell. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
