Phyllis A. Minton, 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, May 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Edward Joseph and Ruby (Perry) Johnson. Phyllis attended Milligan Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving Christian lady; she loved the Lord and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by three brothers, E.J. Johnson Jr., Paul Johnson, and Richard Johnson; two nephews, Shawn Johnson, and Malcolm Johnson; one niece, Debbie Williams.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost forty-eight years, Dwight Minton; son, Joseph Johnson (Sara); grandsons, Mason Johnson, Richie Johnson, and William Maynard; sisters, Norma Jenkins, Margie Parks, and Carolyn Slaughter (Mark); brother, Lynn Johnson (Barbara); along with several nieces and nephews.

The Minton family will honor Phyllis' life with a Graveside Service on Monday afternoon, June 2, 2025, in the Garden of Freedom in Happy Valley Memorial Park beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Street officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone who wishes to attend the Graveside Service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m.
