Phillip Garver, 89, Butler, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1937 in Cosby, Tennessee to the late Newt & Nancy Williamson Garver.. He had lived in Butler since 1975. He was a graduate of Cosby High School. Phillip was retired from the United States Navy. He also retired from SB White Mechanic Contractors. He also owned a HVAC Company and Ice Business. He was one of eleven children. He was a member and Deacon of Little Doe Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Arney Garver.

Survivors include his children: Sherry (Danny) Stevens and Darwinn Garver. Seven Grandchildren: Sarah (Kenny) Davis, Kaylin (Luke) Martin, Mason (Haleigh) Hayworth, Julia Stevens, Luke Hayworth, Evan Hayworth, and Grey Stevens. Two Great Grandchildren: Bethany Davis and Lilly Martin. Several nieces and nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the life Of Phillip will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 in the Little Doe Baptist Church with Pastor Kreg Smith officiating. Graveside Service will follow in the Rock Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be; Chad Stout, Cody Stout, Scotty Kyte, T.R. Kyte, Kevin Howard and Dustin Greene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Freddie Anderson and his church family. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Little Doe Baptist Church prior to the service.
