ELIZABETHTON
Paul W. Cox, Sr. 88, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1937 in Carter County to the late John and Annabel Cox. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and the Tennessee Army National Guard. He retired from ETSU as a boiler tech. He loved hunting, fishing and being around his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Cox, two brothers: Earl and Roy Cox and a granddaughter: Chasity Reece.
Survivors include Two sons: Paul W. Cox, Jr and wife Lucy of Elizabethton and Robert L. Cox, Elizabethton. One Sister: Ruby Woods of Elizabethton and a sister-in-law: Janice Stout of Elizabethton. Two Grandchildren, Five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with his son Paul Cox, Jr. officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Paul Cox, Jr., Robert Cox, Hunter Williams, Kenneth Woods, Stephen Holtsclaw and Jamie Lee Reece. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the graveside service. The family would like to thank all the care givers of the Ivy Hall Nursing Home where he was a resident for the past two years. Also thank the care givers on the second floor, Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the nurses in the ICU at Johnson City Medical Center.
