It is with great sadness that the family of Opal Alice Vance Jarrett announces her death. She peacefully passed away in the early hours of September 22nd, 2025, whilst sleeping.
Opal was born on December 25th, 1931, in Roan Mountain, Tennessee.
Opal enjoyed singing alto in the choir and with the Vance family during her life. She was an avid church goer and a member of the congregation of St. John's F.W.B. Church and Tiger Creek First F.W.B Church. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Opal is survived by her grandson, Tim Jarrett, her sister Mary Bunton (Bill), and her brother Rev. John (Johnny) Vance (Maxine), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Sherman Vance and her mother Ruth Winters (Vance), her husband Norman Jarrett, her son Robert Jarrett and grandson Sean Jarrett, her sisters Bernice Vance, Sylvia Vance (Jim), Inez Johnson (Bruce), and her twin sister Jewel Holtsclaw (Burgess) and by her brothers Deard Vance (Maude), V.I. Vance (Ruby), Ray Vance (Rhodie) Vance, Sterling Vance (Mildred), and Sherman Vance Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a small tribute at Tiger Creek First F.W.B Church on Sunday 28th, 2025 at 2 p.m. Preaching will be conducted by Preacher Bill Highsmith and singing by Rachel Highsmith. She will eventually be laid to rest beside her husband Norman Jarrett at the Shell Creek Cemetery in Roan Mountain, Tennessee.
