Nell Vivian Pealer Hyder, 96, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the Hermitage health Center. She was born in Watauga, December 2, 1926 to the late Mitchell & Helen Scott Pealer. Nell was a graduate of Mary-Hughes High School and East Tennessee State College with a degree in Education. She was a retired Teacher from Elizabethton High School. She loved to read and bake.She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisteres: Marie Kerley, Mattie Boyd, Dean Curde, Clata Fisher, Margie Trent and Mitty  Lovelace and two brothers: Roy & Bruce Pealer.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Lowell Hyder. Two Sons: Marty Hyder and Johnny Burleson. One Daughter: Judy Diaz. Five Grandchildren: Candy Johnson, Rick Burleson, Johnny Burleson, Jr., Joe Diaz and Ashley Blevins. Eight Great Grandchildren: Nicole Andes, Haley & Macey Burleson, Isaac Johnson, Hanley, Elisha, Abel and Piper Diaz. One Great Great Grandchild: Harper Andes. Several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m.Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Dr. James Richardson officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Johnny Burleson, Jr., Rick Burleson, Joe Diaz, Hanley Diaz, Isaac Johnson and Danny Trent. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday prior to the graveside service.
