Martha C. Shell, 87, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in the Ballad Hospice House, Bristol. She was born December 19, 1938 in West Warwick, Rhode Island. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was associated with her husband in the operation of the B-Cliff White Water Rafting.

She loved knitting and crocheting. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Shell who passed away May 25, 2011, by a grandson: Blake Tanner, Three Sisters and One Brother.

Survivors include her Children; Cathy Shell Shoun and husband Mark Lewis and Charles “Chuck” Shell and wife Amy Countiss- Shell. Seven Grandchildren: Carly Shell, Collin Shell, Jessica Cloutier, Brittany Oliver, Lucas Tanner, Olivia Shoun and Amber McKoy, Eight Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Granddaughter.

A Service To Celebrate the Life of Martha will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Estel Williams officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section). Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niswonger Childrens Hospital 400 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, Tenn. 37604. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday.
