Margaret Janette Hoilman

December 7, 1944 – November 10, 2025

Margaret Janette Hoilman, age 80, of Watauga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 10, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1944, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late Bernie and Martha (Ferguson) West.

Janette was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glenn Hoilman; her parents, Bernie and Martha West; her brothers Harlan West, Douglas West, and David West; and her daughter-in-law, Tammy Hoilman.

She is survived by her son, Dexter Hoilman of Watauga; two daughters, Connie Higgins (Frank) of Elizabethton and Lisa Bare (Donnie) of Watauga; one sister, Linda Carden of Watauga; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Kathy West of Johnson City; and a special cousin, Sharon Hughes.

Janette was a proud and loving grandmother to Daniel Hoilman of Watauga, Constance Ferguson (Phillip) of Elizabethton, Vanessa Harrison (Kevin) of Hampton, Jimmie Brown (Torie) of Elizabethton, Gary Hoilman (Kelsi) of Watauga, Devan Nelson (Jasmine) of Watauga, Justin Brown (Lexi) of Elizabethton, Madison Hambrick (Kobe) of Elizabethton, Benjamin Bare of Watauga, and Jonah Bare of Watauga. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Natalie Brown, Jacob Brown, Kenzie Harrison, Samuel Ferguson, Emily Harrison, Ryan Hoilman, Juddson Brown, Chloe Hoilman, Anniston Brown, Lainey Hambrick and Atlea Brown.

Janette was of the Free Will Baptist faith and attended Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church with her daughter. Prior to attending Watauga Valley, she faithfully served alongside her husband, Rev. Glenn Hoilman, for many years at the Y Free Will Baptist Church in Johnson City.

She loved the Lord and found great joy in her church and family. Known for her kind and generous spirit, Janette never met a stranger. She loved animals, caring deeply for every creature that crossed her path, and she especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Janette will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Perkins officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday will be Jimmie Brown, Gary Hoilman, Devan Nelson, Justin Brown, Benjamin Bare, Jonah Bare, Danny Carden and Kevin Harrison. Honorary pallbearer will be Daniel Hoilman. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
