Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, granny, Lucille Bertha Hamby, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the age of 90. We are heartbroken to lose someone so special. She was a special lady whose going to be missed.
She lived a long happy life even when the disease dementia took over her mind. She was the daughter of the late Tillman and Beulah Campbell. She was the wife to the late Claude Hamby of 53 years. She was the mother of 10 sons and one daughter.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carroll and Richard Hamby and three grandsons: Brian Hamby, Franklin Hamby and Charlie Whitson, and three brothers.
Survivors include her children: Michael and Cynthia Hamby, Frank and Kathy Hamby of Roan Mountain, Mark and Katie Hamby of Shollot, North Carolina, Wayne and Melissa Hamby of Johnson City, Tina and Jude Hughes of North Carolina, James and Linda Hamby, Keith and Ann Hamby (whom she lived with), Charles and Beverly Hamby all of Elizabethton, Joe Hamby and girlfriend, Bobbi Jo Clark of Jonas Ridge, North Carolina. She is also the proud grandmother to 24 and great grandmother to 30 and one on the way, great great grandmother to 3. Also a Daughter -in-law: Peggy Hamby. Two Brothers: Spence and Jack Campbell and one sister: Louella Campbell. Several nieces, nephews, half siblings, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Birchfield and Mr. Joey Malphurs officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Hamby Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service. We want to give a special thanks to her daughter-in-law., Ann and Son Keith whom was her care givers the last 5 years, but especially the last three weeks of her life and Ashley Maye, also the staff at Amedisys hospice. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com .
