Mrs. Loretta Geraldine Hampton Winters of Elizabethton was born on July 11, 1942, and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Loretta was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Jonah and Anna Mae Barnett Hampton. She graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1960 and furthered her education by taking multiple business courses throughout her career. For many years, she managed the Southern Home Building Fund for the law offices of Bernie Cantor.

She was married to Roger Winters in 1960. They built a wonderful life together and they were blessed with their daughter Diane. Roger and Loretta spent many happy times going on long drives and having picnics before heading back home. To say she loved her family is an understatement. H life revolved around making a loving home for Roger and Diane. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, completing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, friends and church family. She consistently placed the needs of others above her own.

Loretta was a dedicated Christian, a woman of deep faith, and she attended Zion Baptist Church. Her life was a true reflection of Jesus' love and kindness. She was a committed and loyal friend. She will be missed greatly by her family and those fortunate enough to call friend.

Besides her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Diane Winters and by her sister, Anita Hand. Survivors are Roger Winters, her beloved husband of 63 years, and her nephews, Ronnie Townsend and Jessi Hand.

A celebration of life graveside service and interment will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. D. Alan King and Dr. Caleb King officiating and with Reverend Bobby Stout as honorary minister. Pallbearers will be Cody Palmer, Gary Sheffield, family friends and church family. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Biggs and Ronnie Townsend. Because of COVID and other illnesses, social distancing will be observed.  Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 1982 Gap Creek Rd, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Mr. Winters would like to thank the staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, the second floor PCU staff at the Johnson City Medical Center, and Dr. Scott May and his staff that provided the best of services and care.  Friends may register their presence at the funeral home Wednesday 12 noon until 5 p.m. or Thursday morning until 12 noon.
