Leonard Eugene Johnson, 71, Hampton, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1954 in Banner Elk, North Carolina to the late Jacob and Mary Mildred Ramsey Johnson. He retired from the Carter County Solid Waste. He was retired from the Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Department after 40 years of service. He was a Constable from the 2nd District of Carter County for 28 years.. He was a member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Janie Brown Johnson, a sister: Teresa Carnes and a brother: Michael Johnson.
Survivors include Four Children: Roy Lee Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Jacob L (Jamie) Johnson and Leonard J. (BJ) Johnson. Four Grandchildren: Jaylin Johnson, Arianna Miller, Cooper Osborne and Travis Johnson. Two Great Grandchildren: Colin Johnson and Riley Cooper. Two Sisters: Emma Bertha Johnson and Wanda Faye (Aaron) Whitener. Two Brothers: Danny Johnson and Mark (Audrey) Johnson.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Johnson Cemetery, McKinney Hollow, Roan Mountain with Pastor Stevie Guinn officiating. Active Pallbearer who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Saturday will be: Melvin Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jimmy Dyson, Aaron Whitener, Richard Buchanan and Nathanel Loughner. Honorary Pallbearers will be: his many nephews and friends, Carter County Constables and members of the Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the graveside service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
