Lawrence T. Pierce, 86, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on August 17, 2026 at home on his farm surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late Armstrong and Grace Smith Pierce. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers, Jay, Ron, Guerney, and Dallas Pierce, and his sisters Evelyn Williams and Georgia Grindstaff.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pauletta Pierce; his daughter, Kristy Baker and husband Christian of Jonesborough; and his grandson, U.S. Air Force Capt. Trevor Wood of Honolulu, Hawaii. He is also survived by his brother, Dean Pierce and wife Loretta; his sister, Patsy Stout; his sisters-in-law, Myrtle, Carolyn, Wanda, and Shirley Pierce; and many extended family members and friends.

Lawrence was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a 30 year employee of the State of Tennessee at Green Valley Developmental Center. He was a lifelong member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman. Above all, Lawrence treasured time with his family and found great joy in caring for his garden and the animals on his farm.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Mountain Home VA Medical Center for their years of dedication in caring for Lawrence and all of our nation's veterans. In lieu of flowers, it was Lawrence’s wish that donations be made to the Children’s Fund at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church.

Lawrence will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his faith, and the simple pleasures of a life well lived.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026 in Caldwell Springs Cemetery with Pastor Doug Hinshaw officiating. The family will receive friends, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the graveside service. Active Pallbearers will be his nephews.
