Joyce Thompson Wright went to be with the Lord in her heavenly home on the

morning of November 16, 2024. Preceded in death by her beloved parents Joseph
"Tommy" Thompson and Margaret Hendrickson and siblings "Little" Tommy
Thompson, Joseph Thompson Jr., Terry Thompson, Linda Mcintosh and Retha
Queen. Survivors include her sister Jennifer Thompson, her three children
David Wright, Jason Wright and Layla Wright. Her best friends Donna Hayes,
Brenda Peters and Martha Laws.

A native of Elizabethton, Joyce was proud to be an Elizabethton Cheerleader
class of 1966. Her greatest accomplishment was obtaining her nursing degree
and working as an LPN (licensed practical nurse) at Pediatric Associates and
Johnson City Medical Center (NICU) newborn nursery. She loved being a mom to
her three beautiful children and aunt to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She took pride in gardening, canning, sewing and dancing. She never met a
stranger. Her energy was contagious and she made everyone laugh with her
infectious sense of humor. She could livin up any party and enjoyed driving
the open road where all roads lead to Cherokee. She was well known for her
tender kisses and sweet spirit. In spite of losing her sight and through her
long, courageous and enduring battle with cancer she remained fiery and
feisty and continued to think of others more than herself. A beautiful soul
inside and out she made a lasting impression on the lives she touched. To
know her was to love her from the local pharmacists to her caring nurses and
doctors, she continued to amaze everyone with her miraculous fight.

The family will be having a private graveside service at Thompson Family Cemetery
