Obituary

Joy Carol Malone, age 81 of Elizabethton, passed peacefully in her home early Thursday morning, September 11, 2025. She was born
January 14, 1944, in Carter County to the late George "Doc" Crumley and his wife Mary Francis Crumley. Joy was a 1962 graduate of Elizabethton High School and spent her whole life living and working in the Biltmore area of Carter County. Joy was a devout Christian
and a long-time member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. She taught children's bible classes for many years, where she spread Christ's
message to many youths. Ms. Joy, the name many people knew her by, worked for thirty-nine years at Keenburg Elementary School. She
was involved in PTA, cheerleading, and basketball programs. Throughout the years, Ms. Joy, became an important figure at the school and in the community providing care, comfort, and love to the many of students and staff of Keenburg. Joy also enjoyed sports and had a love for the Elizabethton Twins organization. She frequently opened her home to players who were far from their own homes, earning the name "Mama Lasagna" for the meals and care she provided them. She was also very close to her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and cherished every memory made with them. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter Missy and had a fondness for the beach, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband Doris Stanley Malone and her sister Rose Cross. She is survived by her three children, Missy
Malone of the home, Tyler Malone, (Christy), and Myrissa Lambert (Phillip), her grandchildren, Noah Lambert, Naason Lambert, Thomas Lambert, Luke Lambert, Easton Malone, and Elly Malone.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all caregivers over the past weeks, Becky Campbell, Beth Desilvey, Carly Kestner,
Becky Nave, Sage Nave, Dina Pinedo, and the Amedisys team. The family would also like to recognize some special non-related family members, Penny Hampton and Ramon Borrego, who was like a son.
