Obituary

Joseph Oliver, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at his residence.. He was born August 25, 1938 in Elizabethton to the late Jacob and Eva Pierce Oliver. He was a retired Mechanic. He was formerly employed at Gordons Furniture and Keith Bowers Auto Salvage. He loved to ride his bicycle and work on cars. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: James, Paul and Johnny Oliver and five sisters: Bertha, Elsie, Marie, Ruth and Faye and his grandson-in-law: Steven Justin Branch.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Pauline Williams Oliver. Three Children: Annette (Dwayne) Batich, Billy Joe Oliver and Mary Whitaker. Six Grandchildren: Melinda Branch, Kristina (Cody) Hight, Brittany Thurman, John Morton, Terry (Heather) Morris, Jr., and Dakota Whitaker. Twelve Great Grandchildren: Andrew Tanner, Tiffany Tanner, Jonathan Branch, Kierah Hight Evangeline Baker, Skylar Richter, Hunter Thurman, Leo Thurman, Ava Morton, Jaden Coleman, Bentley Morris and Aubrey Morris. Three Sisters: Sarah Blevins, Onie (Ray) Williams, and Hazel Arnold. One Brother: Wayne (Shelia) Oliver. Several Nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jason Holly and Pastor Todd Hallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Batich, Kristina Hight, Terry Morris, Jr., Terry Morris, Sr., John Morton and Cody Hight. The family would like to express a very special thank you to Kristina and Cody Hight for the excellent care our love one received and also to Signature Health & Glenda, also Caris Hospice Services.
