Joseph George Karsnak, 90, Kingsport, born, February 17, 1936, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026. He was born in Scranton, Pa to the late Julius & Josephine Karsnak. Joe carried with him the values of hard work, resilience and deep devotion to family throughout his life. He was a man of strength in every sense of the word-not only in body, but in character and heart. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his time of service, he met the love of his life Patricia. Their love story began while he was serving aboard the USS Intrepid, where their bond was formed and a lifetime of memories began. They later married, sharing years of love and partnership. Joe dedicated nearly 40 years of his professional life as a Manager for Southern Finance in Elizabethton. He was respected for his integrity, leadership and unwavering commitment to those he worked with and served.

Outside of work Joe had a passion for fitness that defined much of his life. He loved working out and proudly competed in Powerlifting Competitions for many years, earning numerous state titles. His dedication, discipline and competitive spirit were evident in everything he persued. He was a proud member of the Southern Powerlifting Federation, where he formed lasting friendships and left a strong impression.

Joe's faith was a guiding light in his life. He found Jesus as an adult, a deeply personal transformation that shaped the rest of his years, from that moment on he remained faithful and steadfast living his life with quiet trust in the Lord. His belief gave him strength, peace and perspective and it was reflected in his kindness, humility and enduring gratitude.

Joe also had a special place in his heart for his beloved pets. They were not simply pets, but cherished companions who brought him comfort, for and unconditional love. His gentle bond with them reflected the tenderness and warmth that defined his spirit.. Above all else, Joe loved his family beyond measure. His greatest pride and joy came from those he loved and he will be remembered for his strength, his determination, his quiet wisdom and his deep enduring love. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Whitson Karsnak.

Survivors include his wife; Freda Karsnak , His Daughter: Deanna Karsnak Hershberger, his son: Joseph Eric Karsnak along with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his in-laws and many nieces and nephews

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section), 53 Memorial Avenue.
