Obituary

Johnny Douglas Richardson, 73, Roan Mountain, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2024 in the Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born July 6, 1950 in Banner Elk, North Carolina to the late John & Geneva Buck Richardson. He was a graduate of Cloudland High School and East Tennessee State University. He was retired from the USDA Farm Service Agency after 30 years of service in Carter County and the Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the Cattlemen Association and the Tennessee Association of FSA County Office Employees. John was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, Roan Mountain and the Binghamtown Baptist Church, Middlesboro, Kentucky. In earlier years he was a Sunday School Teacher at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Myra Harrell Richardson. One Daughter: Brooke Elizabeth Richardson, Madison, Wisconsin. Several Cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday, February 29, 2024 in the Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, 120 Morgan Branch Road, Roan Mountain with Pastor John Henry McCoury officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Thursday until the service at Noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Smoky Mountain Lions Charity, PO Box 70276, Knoxville, Tenn. 37938 or the Remote Area Medical, 2200 Stock Creek Blvd., Rockford, Tenn. 37853. Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the Buck Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
