Joey Shane Souder, 47, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born September 16, 1978 in Johnson City. He was a 1996 graduate of Elizabethton High School and graduated from Northeast State College with an Associate Degree in Computer Science. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, where he earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He was a store manager for Dollar General. He loved to go to concerts and loved watching Ohio State and Tennessee Volunteer football. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Thomas Souder; his father, Paul Souder (Margaret); two sisters, Shay Hicks and Sherri (Steve) Bohling; three nephews, Taylor Bohling, Thomas Bohling and Mason Hicks (fiancé Kirsten).

Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026 in the Garden of Remembrance, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be by Dale Williams. Active pallbearers will be Taylor Bohling, Steve Bohling, Thomas Bohling, Mason Hicks, Dillon Woodby and Andrew Little, and are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m., Thursday.
