Jeffie G. "J.G." Hughes, of Roan Mountain went to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a son of the late Carmon and Harriett Hopson Hughes of Roaring Creek, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Cranberry High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He attended St. John Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce A. Winters Hughes who passed away August 1, 2022, his sisters: Marie Clark, Aileen Powell, Sue Zoleane Hughes, Mable Stoughton, and Maxine Guess and a brother: J.C. Hughes.

Survivors include three children: Denna (David) Harrison, Jeff (Kim) Hughes and Diane (Chad Hyder) Hughes. A Sister: Irene Lusk. His Grandchildren: Brittany Tanner and Hailey Hughes. Several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson-Roan View Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Military Honors will be provided by the DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard, Bluff City.
