JD Livingston Sr, 90, of Elizabethton, Tn, passed away on January 29, 2024. He was born on February 11, 1933 in Carter County, Tn, and was a lifelong resident of the area. JD was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
JD was known for his sharp wit and love for discussing current events, news, and other interests. His wealth of knowledge about the history of Carter County and the town of Elizabethton was unmatched. He had a passion for fishing in the Watauga River and turkey hunting in the surrounding mountains.
JD was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Fanny Hicks Livingston, and his step-mother, Mary Livingston who lovingly raised him. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pat Hall Livingston, and his second wife, Kitty Webb Livingston.
JD is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Verna Livingston, and his children: JD Livingston II (Beth), Denise Whitley (Jim), Mary June livingston (Randy Miller), Laurie Burleson (Doug), stepdaughters: Donna Storrs (Robert), Ronna Ventro, and stepson Richard Baker, and son-in-law: Steve Williams. He was also a cherished grandfather to JJ and Will Livingston, Katy Gallagher, Tyler and Trey Burleson, Christina Minga (John) and Sarah Rowen (John). He was also a great-grandfather to Khloe and Jackson Bennett, Hudson and Heidi Minga and Haven Rowen.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Daniel Winiger officiating. Interment will be in Happy Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, Tn. 38105-9959. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
