Janice Sue Salyer Estep, 81, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, October 17, 2026 at The Greens at Erwin Healthcare Center. Janice was born March 21, 1945 in Durby, Virginia to the late Rev. Homer C. & Iona Eads Salyer. She had lived in Carter County since 1953. She was a graduate of Unaka High School. Janice loved to play the piano and sing and most of all loved being a ministers wife. She was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Richard “Dickey” Estep, by two brothers: Roy and Carlos Salyer and two sisters: Vera West and Brenda Howell.

Survivors include two sons: Shannon (Christy) Estep and Lance Estep. Three Grandchildren: Aaron, Carissa and Jacob Estep, One Great Granddaughter: Mila Carrier. One Sister LaDonna (Jerry) Proffitt. One Brother: Desler Salyer. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in the Grindstaff Cemetery with Pastor Eric Heaton officiating. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday will be: Lance Estep, Jacob Estep, Aaron Estep, Kevin Lewis, Jeff Guinn, and Jerry Proffitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be her church family and all of her family. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff of The Greens at Erwin Healthcare Center for the excellent care she received during her stay there.
