With hearts broken by deep sadness but also full of eternal hope, we share the passing of Janice Marie Bostrom from this life to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior.

Janice Marie Bostrom was born in Chicago, Illinois to Donald and Norma Miller on February 16, 1953. She spent her formative years going to Elim Evangelical Free Church, where she came to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She graduated from Oak Lawn High School and then Trinity College in 1974. It was there she met the love of her life, Jim Bostrom, whom she married July 27, 1974. They spent the early years of their marriage at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN preparing for the mission field. Jim and Jan then served in Brazil with Mission Aviation Fellowship for 6 years. During this season they welcomed their three children. They eventually returned back to East Tennessee to raise their family. Professionally, she worked as a Medical Technologist in various hospital labs.

She was a gifted pianist, quilter and avid reader. Two qualities that Jan exemplified were kindness and contentment. She was a good listener, a thoughtful gift giver, and a faithful servant. She was beloved “Nana” to her 11 grandchildren. She would often be heard saying, “each one is so very precious” and “I love you to the moon and back.”

She was a long-time member of Grace Fellowship Church where she served as a teacher in the Kids Access Special Needs Sunday School and the GFC Sponsor team for immigrant families. Her testimony only grew stronger in the last several months of her life, and her friends and family were able to witness the remarkable peace and gratitude she displayed through her final days on earth. She died as she lived, thinking of others and anticipating and preparing for the needs of her family.

She graduated into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Her absence will be deeply felt by the family that adored her. She leaves behind her husband Jim, sisters Karen Wagner (Chas) and Marcia Snyder (Bill); daughter Julie Bentley (Andrew), sons Jake Bostrom (Cara) and Jeff Bostrom (Rebecca), and her beloved 11 grandchildren. We grieve her death, but not as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13) for we know she now sees her Savior face to face.

The family will receive friends at Grace Fellowship Church, Johnson City, on Friday July 3 from 2-3 pm where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 pm. with Pastor Benjamin Kisoni officiating. Cara Chute will be offering the eulogy.

A graveside service will also be held Friday July 3 at 10 am at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Benjamin Kisoni officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will meet at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton at 9:20 am and travel in procession.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Keith Cook, Dr. Dharmen Patel, and Dr. Sunil Geevarghese and staff for their exceptional and compassionate care.
