James Roger Palmer, 77, Roan Mountain, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 in the Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, North Carolina. He was born February 12, 1945 to the late William Bruce & Virginia Wilson Palmer. He was a self employed electrician. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Jamie Palmer and two brothers: Charlie & Dean Palmer. In his earlier years he loved to hunt arrow heads.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Judy Yelton Palmer. A Daughter: Marsha (John ) Barnett, Roan Mountain. Two Grandchildren: Megan Barnett, Elizabethton and Dustin Barnett, Roan Mountain. One Great Grandson: Bentley James Anderson. One Brother: Johnny (Mary) Palmer, Elizabethton and One Sister: Clairece Ruby Powell, Roan Mountain.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 in the Johnson Roan View Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Stevens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may visit with the family at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
