James (Jim) Lowe, a beloved father, husband, brother, and coach, passed away on Wednesday,

March 25th, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center at the age of 88.

James was born on July 12th, 1937 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Roby and Elizabeth Lowe.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lee Lowe, his brothers Arthur (Lisa) Lowe and Roby (Sandy) Lowe, and sister Libby Sproles.

He was preceded in death by his sister Joan Cable, niece Summer Lowe, brother in law Darrell Sproles, and great-granddaughter Rose Lowe.

James leaves behind his loving children: Sandy Houser, Ronnie Lowe (Thelma), Timmy Lowe (Starr), Beth Lewis. He also leaves behind a cherished

extended family that includes his grandchildren Duane (Amber) Lowe, Chris Lowe, Cody (Bailey) Lewis, Jesse Lewis, and

great-grandchildren Reese & Kailey Lowe, Dylan & Vivian Lowe, Paisleigh & Piper Lewis. Including also several cherished nieces and nephews,

special friends and neighbors Luther (Nancy) Cox, and Wayne (Loretta) Peeks, and sister-in-law Lou Lawson (Dave).

After James returned from a European tour as a United States Air Force Veteran, he dedicated over 30 years to the Johnson City Postal Office. He met and married his wife Lee in 1972, and together they enjoyed an astounding 53 years together. James was a man that found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was fishing on Watauga Lake with his good friends Carroll Shell and Jeremy Burleson, coaching baseball, or simply spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan, passionately following the Atlanta Braves and University of Tennessee's football and basketball teams. James coached hundreds of players and numerous teams during his 39 years of coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was also a devoted enthusiast of early Western movies and novels, and a true collector of Louis L'Amour's work. Above all, James Lowe always ensured that each member of his family was taken care of, no matter their circumstances. He was a man that could find resolve in any need, and was always willing to help the people he loved and cared for. Most importantly, James made sure that no one ever went hungry in his presence. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Pastor

Jeremy Burleson officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor

Guard of the Tricities. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Monday_.
