Obituary

James Gordon Nidiffer, Elizabethton passed away on April 24, 2025 after a brief illness. He was 85 years young. He was born May 31, 1939 to Cecil and Virgie Davenport Nidiffer.

Gordon will be sadly missed by his daughter, Teresa Nidiffer Smith and son-in-law. Allen. He also leaves behind 2 granddaughters: Ashley Hartley, (Phillip) and Elizabeth Honeycutt. 3 great grandchildren, Ciara White, Elijah "Dennis" Whicker and Carson Atkinson and a sister, Dorothy Nidiffer Oliver. Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Atkinson and 3 siblings, William and Paul Nidiffer and Edna Nidiffer Grindstaff.

Gordon served in Germany in the US Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He worked in the Automotive Industry most of his life as a parts and service manager. He loved tinkering with vehicles and enjoyed antique car shows.

He was a fun spirited soul who took on many passions. He was also an exceptional carpenter. Gordon also found joy in camping, riding bicycles, watching hummingbirds, and eating a couple of hot biscuits and gravy every morning to get the day started.

Gordon's antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He said what he meant and meant what he said. As Daddy departed this world, I would like to think he whispered, "Here we go now, singing in the kitchen."
