Obituary

Jada Marie Short passed away on September 10, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, following a recent illness. She was born on November 24, 1982, in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

Jada was known for her bright personality and infectious laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit that made her unforgettable. She loved to be the center of attention and she brought life and laughter to every room she entered. She loved animals and especially her dog Teddy.

She loved to read and write and had a curious spirit that inspired her to explore new places and ideas. Jada was smart, thoughtful, and always eager to learn more about the world around her.

Throughout her career, Jada worked for several years in the fast food industry.

Jada will be remembered as a loving daughter who cared deeply for her family and brought joy to those who knew her.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Vikki and Bob Killian, her sister Ariel Killian, her half-brother Tommy Wetzel, and her grandmother Phyllis Hart. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Dennis Hart, her biological father Thomas Wetzel, her grandparents Grace and George Wetzel, and her step-grandparents Mary and Mark Killian.

Jada will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on Saturday, Novemeber 08, 2025 at 11 a.m. following a graveside service with Rev. Macil Duncan, officiating. Family and friends are asked to be at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession Memorial Funeral Home in Elizabethton. Active pallbearers are Bob Killian, Steve Lowe, Rev. Mike Killian and Steve Perry.
