Inez Johnson, 88, Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2023 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a Carter County native and the daughter of the late James Sherman and Ruth Melinda Winters Vance. She is a long time member of Tiger Creek First Freewill Baptist Church. Inez loved to sing and everyone loved to hear her sing. She was like a song book with many memorized songs in her head. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Johnson and a son Wade Johnson and several siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Andy Johnson (Tracie); two sisters: Mary Bunten and Alice Opal Jarrett; one brother: Rev. John F. Vance (Maxine Kay); three grandsons: Jimmy Johnson (Sabrina), Michael Johnson (Chelsea), Joey Johnson (Keshia) and granddaughter: Stacie Johnson (Cory); 10 Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Charlie Trivette and Pastor John L. Stockton, officiating. Music will be provided by Rachael Highsmith, soloist. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Richardson Cemetery in Roan Mountain.
